Therapy Area
Bone degradation diseases including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and skeletal metastases.
|
|
In phase
Phase I studies performed during the year and reported in December 2007. |
Competitive edge
Cathepsin K inhibitor markedly decrease degradation of bone without effecting bone formation, which is expected to lead to improved quality (i.e. the strength) of the skeleton. Rapid onset and offset of inhibitory activity on bone resorption is a marked advantage over current commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals. |
Project data
- Highly effective and selective inhibitor
- Excellent pharmacokinetics and pharmacological efficacy in preclinical models
- Potent effects in a human cell based model for bone degradation
- Multiple series of potent compounds
