MIV-711 (Cathepsin K)

Therapy area
Bone degradation diseases including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and skeletal metastases.

Phase
Two CD's (candidate drug), MIV-711, in preclinical development phase.
Competitive edge
Cathepsin K inhibitors markedly decrease degradation of bone without affecting bone formation, which is expected to lead to improved strength of the skeleton. Rapid onset and offset of inhibitory activity on bone resorption is a marked advantage over current commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals.
Project data
  • Highly potent and selective cathepsin K inhibitor which inhibits bone resorption (bone loss)
  • The important bone formation process is maintained
  • Strong inhibition of bone degradation in preclinical models
  • Long effect duration
  • Very favourable pharmacokinetic properties of CD results in a low dose and a once daily treatment
